Camp Hardtner
Camp Hardtner is a weekend long, professional writing retreat for active Acadiana Writing Project, AWP, members. On Friday and Saturday teacher consultants (TCs), are taught the art of poetry as well as the foundations of its composition. Sunday reserved for sharing composed poems. Camp Hardtner is an excellent retreat for TCs to expand and improve upon poetry writing.
Dr. Darrell Bourque, Ph.D., retired English professor of creative writing from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, usually leads the retreat. Dr. Bourque, former English department chair at ULL, has published several books of poetry, most recently, The Blue Boat.
Camp Hardtner is an invitation only event, reserved for TCs, who are active and current with their dues. Registration forms are available only through the site’s newsletter and registration and dates are announced through the teacher consultant’s listserv. The cost per person is $25. A double occupancy room, meals and snacks are included in the cost.
Camp Hardtner is located in central Louisiana near Pollock. To view the site of the weekend retreat, please visit http://www.westernlouisiana.anglican.org/hardtner1.htm.
